HELP: Open File Security Warning

SYMPTOMS

The "Open File - Security Warning" appears every time when trying to run Apteryx software from a server. The warning states that the "publisher could not be verified. Are you sure you want to run this software?"

RESOLUTION

This warning occurs as a result of updating to Internet Explorer 7. To stop this warning from appearing, go to Start > Run. Type in INETCPL.CPL  and press OK. Go to the Security tab, select Local intranet, and click the Sites button.

 Make sure that only the following boxes are checked:

Most importantly, uncheck the first box ("Automatically detect intranet network") and check the last box ("Include all network paths").

ALTERNATE METHOD

Add the IP address or name of the server to your Trusted sites zone in Internet Explorer:

• Choose Start > Run. Type in INETCPL.CPL and press OK.
• On the Security tab, select Trusted Sites, and click the Sites button.
• Uncheck Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone.
• Add the IP address or name of the server to the list. Then click Close.

You can also add the server to the Local Intranet zone by selecting Local Intranet, clicking the Sites button, and then clicking Advanced. Then follow the above steps.
