When opening the application, accessing the patient list or opening a patient's images, the application run VERY slowly.
This problem is caused by running the application on WinXP computers over a network when the application resides on a FAT32 drive or partition. When performing various checking on the database and application, file attribute checking operations require more time on WinXP FAT32 drives or partitions. The extra amount of time that is require can become prohibitively intrusive.
There are several resolutions to this problem:
Change the Database Change Monitoring in the application options. Changing this option will dramatically improve the performance of the application but it will still not run as fast as if the application was located on a NTFS drive or partition. To change the Database Change Monitoring settings: Select Options from the Tools menu; click on the Database tab; enable the OS notification option.
Convert the drive / partition to NTFS. Due to increased performance of NTFS, Apteryx recommends that drive use the NTFS file format (although this is not a requirement). Converting FAT32 drives to NTFS is an easy, straight-forward process. For more information, please consult the Windows documentation or ask your computer professional.
Move the application to a NTFS partition. If you do not want to upgraded your FAT32 drive, you can move the application to a NTFS drive or partition. For more information on moving the XrayVision application, please refer to the HOWTO: Move Databases And Remote Patient Databases documentation.
