Due to Apteryx?s unique SIMU? technology (Single Installation, Multiple Use), you only are required to install XrayVision once on your network. Once XrayVision has been installed on your network, all computers running 32-bit Windows operating systems (Win95 or higher) can automatically run the application without performing additional installations on each computer.
A typical network installation of XrayVision consists of installing the application on your network?s server (or other computer that has been chosen to be the XrayVision server). Since the server is a shared resource with all of the computers on the network, each workstation automatically will have access to the application.
To set up XrayVision on a client workstation, perform the following steps:
Double-click on Network Neighborhood or My Network icon on your desktop and navigate to the installation directory on the server computer. Typically, XrayVision is installed in the "C:\Program Files\Apteryx\XrayVision" directory on the server computer.
Run the XVAssistant.EXE
application file. This
file will have the XrayVision icon
associated with it.
If
the program does not start on the client computer and indicates an operating
system component error, please refer to the appropriate HOWTO section
below.
Select Create Local Shortcuts from the
Help menu. This will update
all of the XrayVision links on the computer including the desktop icon
and Start menu.

PAC Licensing:
You need
to have a PAC license for each computer you run the XrayVision application
on your network. If
you try to set up XrayVision on a client workstation and you do not have
enough licenses, an error message will be displayed and you will not be
able to run or setup XrayVision on that computer. More
licenses can be obtained by contacting your XrayVision sales representative.

Every once in a great while, a client computer may be encountered that cannot run the XrayVision application (the computer indicates a DLL problem and then closes the program). This problem occurs when one or more out-of-date operating system components are encountered.
To correct this problem, insert the XrayVision Installation CD into the CD-ROM drive and do the following
Click on the Install XrayVision
option.

Navigate through the installation
screens until you come to the Select
Features dialog that permits you to select the various Windows
Components.

Disable all other options as you navigate through the various features dialogs! If you do not disable all of the other features, it is possible that you will take up additional drive space with installed components that you will never use.
Once the installer finishes and you reboot the computer, repeat the process outlined in the HOWTO Setup XrayVision On A Client Workstation section to complete the installation.
