HOWTO: Customizing Document Templates

The document templates that come with the XVa3 application can be customized (or new ones can be created) by:

  1. Remove the read-only attribute from the document template files.  To do this: double click on your Network Neighborhood icon on your desktop; navigate to the XVa3 application directory on your network; double click on the Document Templates sub-directory; select Select All from the Edit menu; right-click on one of the files; select Properties from the pop-up menu; make sure that a check mark does not appear next to the Read-Only attribute; close the dialog by clicking on the OK button.

  2. Edit the desired template in MS Word.

  3. Be sure that you do not delete any of the bookmarks in the document.  To be sure that you have not deleted any of the bookmarks in the document, bookmarks can be displayed by selecting the Bookmarks option from the Insert menu in Word.

New document templates can be added .
