HOWTO: Reinstall The Suni Hardware

To reinstall the MPDx hardware on a computer:

  1. Download the latest drivers from Apteryx upgrade web site at http://www.apteryxware.com/xva/downloads/xva3_5/mpdx_advanced.shtml.  The drivers should be saved to a blank floppy diskette by clicking on the MPDx_USB_Install link and then selecting the Save to option.

  2. Ensure that you have WinZip installed on your computer.  If WinZip is not installed on your computer, you can install the freeware version of their software by visiting their web site at www.winzip.com.

  3. Double-click on the My Computer icon on your desktop with your left mouse button.

  4. Double-click on your A: drive with your left mouse button.

  5. Double-click on the USBInstallationKit.zip file with your left mouse button.  WinZip should start.  If the WinZip Wizard starts, click on the WinZip Classic button.

     
     

  6. Click on the button.

  7. Select your A: drive from the Folders/drives list.

     
     

  8. Click on the Extract button.  WinZip will start extracting the driver files to the floppy drive.

  9. Close WinZip.

  10. Go to your Control Panel (select Control Panel from the Setting option in the Start menu).

  11. Double-click on the System icon with your left mouse button.

  12. In Win98, click on the Device Manager.  In Win2000, click on the Hardware tab and then click on the Device Manager button.

  13. Look under Universal Serial Bus controllers and delete any reference to a Suni device.

  14. Under Other Devices, delete any devices that refer to a USB device.

  15. Eject the floppy disk created during the first few steps.

  16. Restart your computer and make sure that your MPDx hardware is plugged in.

  17. Wait for your system to detect the new hardware (the MPDx system).

  18. When prompted, select the Search for the drivers ... option and reinsert the floppy disk created during the first few steps.

  19. Make sure that only the Floppy Disks option is selected and then click on the Next button.
