... add color markers to a grayscale/monochrome image?

When you place a color marker in an image, it is automatically mapped to the closest color available in the image. Since there are only shades of gray in a greyscale/monochrome image, a color marker will appear as a shade of gray.

To place a color marker in a grayscale image:

1. Convert the image to RGB (24-bit) by selecting RGB Color from the Convert To option in the Image Menu.

2. Insert your color marker.

3. Convert the image to 256 colors by selecting 256 Colors from the Convert To option in the Image Menu.

... get an image from XrayVision into another application?

There are two main methods of transferring images from XrayVision to another application.

1. The system clipboard. XrayVision supports Copy and Paste operations from the clipboard. For more information, please refer to the Clipboard section of XrayVision's on-line help.

2. From a commonly support file format. Saving an image from XrayVision as a PCX file usually will enable the other application to read the image directly from the disk drive. If the target application does not support the PCX file format, then try some of the other file formats supported by XrayVision. For more information, please refer to the Images section of XrayVision's on-line help.

Note: If the original image is an STB image, the copied or exported image will not be a secure image! The Windows copy and paste routine is not capable of retaining an STB's security features.

... extract images from a full mouth series or other mounted images?

There are two methods of extracting images from a mounted set of images.

• Images may automatically be extracted by using the Auto Image Extraction function.
  To use this tool:
  1. Select Auto Image Extraction from the Actions menu.
  2. Click on the sub-image that you want to extract.

Note: Auto Image Extraction will not work on all images due to variables such as image definition, image complexity and original image quality.

• Images may be manually extracted by using the Selection Extraction tool.
  
  1. To use this tool, click on Selection Extraction in the Actions menu.
  2. Click and drag with the left mouse button over the section of the image you want to extract.
  3. Release the mouse button.
  4. The area you selected will now be displayed as a new image, leaving the original intact.

Note: If the original image was an STB (Secure Tagged Block) image, the new image will not be created as an STB.
